With the news that Jaren Jackson Jr. is declaring for the NBA Draft and hiring an agent, it's worth taking a look at how much Michigan State basketball is losing going into next season.

To recap, Miles Bridges and Jackson have declared early for the NBA Draft. Nick Ward has also declared but could come back as he is not hiring an agent at this time. Ben Carter, Gavin Schilling and Lourawls 'Tum Tum" Nairn are all out of eligibility.

We'll leave Ward out of this calculation to start.

If Nick Ward Comes Back To MSU...

Michigan State basketball is losing around 33 points per game (the team averaged about 80 per game). The Spartans are also losing 18 rebounds, 8 assists, 4.5 blocks and 1.7 steals per game. The five players that are confirmed to be leaving total about 87 minutes of a game. In other words, about three starters worth of minutes are looking to be filled in 2018-19.

Put it a different way, Michigan State is losing about 41.5% of its scoring, 44.5% of its rebounding, 42% of its assists, 63% of its blocks, and 42% of its steals.

But what happens if Nick Ward decides he's ready to call it a college career? Those numbers then skyrocket even farther.

If Nick Ward Goes Pro...

In terms of per game metrics, Ward leaving would mean Michigan State is down 45.7 points per game (57% of all scoring), 25.4 rebounds per game (61.8% of rebounding), 8.5 assists per game (44.4% of all assists), 5.8 blocks per game (81% of blocks), and 2 steals per game (49% of steals).

Long story short, Michigan State's incoming freshmen have a big gap to help fill next season.
