Here's the skinny on the ins-and-outs of Opening Day at Comerica Park next Thursday, April 4.

First and foremost, the most exciting spectacle, outside of the season opener itself, is 1984 American League MVP and Cy Young winner Guillermo "Willie" Hernandez throwing out the first pitch. Be sure to get there well ahead of first pitch at 1:10 PM to see Willie.

WWJ NewsRadio 950 in Detroit reports that gates at Comerica Park open at 10:00 AM, ahead of "Homerun Happy Hour". This is where Pepsi Porch fans and those in the Miller Lite Pitcher's Pub can get $3 Pepsi drinks, $5 nacho, hot dog, and burger baskets, Miller and Coors products and cocktails.

Expect a flyover from A-10 Warthog fighter jets from Selfridge Air National Guard Base, and the National Anthem performed by Motown legend Mary Wilson of The Supremes.

Prior to the game, there will be a block party at Grand Circus Park beginning at 10:00 AM, free of charge, in addition to the numerous bars and restaurants holding their own events around the ball park.

There are some new ticketing and bag policies in effecf this year at the friendly confines. For full details, visit this link to WWJ NewsRadio 950.
