Is This a Fox or Coyote?

Driving through a neighborhood in Okemos yesterday, I saw what I thought was a red fox running down the middle of the street. Of course, by the time I stopped my car, fumbled around and found my home to take a picture, it was a decent distance away.

When I showed Joey the picture today, he insisted it was a coyote, not a fox. What do you think?
