Downtown Grand Rapids Wine Bar + Restaurant Abruptly Shuts Down
Grand Rapids has said goodbye to another restaurant.
This is a good reminder to not put off visiting a restaurant, as you might never get the chance to go! Forty Pearl downtown Grand Rapids in the Trust Building has been on my list for a while and I'm bummed I never went.

Sadly, after seven years in business, 40 Pearl has permanently closed.
The wine bar and restaurant was opened by Ed and Robert Brengman as a tasting room to showcase wines from their Traverse City vineyard, Crane Hill Vineyard.
They worked with their culinary team in an effort to shine a spotlight on Michigan wines by pairing them with "adventurous bites" made with local ingredients.

The menu included appetizers like shrimp cocktail and charcuterie boards. You'd also find salads and sandwiches. Entrees included roasted chicken, ribeye, bluegill, and seared duck breast.

In additional to wine, Forty Pearl served beer and cocktails.
Earlier this year, MLive named Forty Pearl among "5 Great Wine Bars to Sip and Unwind in Grand Rapids".
The Brengmans shared news of the Forty Pearl's closure to Instagram saying, "We have decided to close our doors at Forty Pearl after 7 years of serving the wonderful people of Grand Rapids. We thank all of you who have shared meals, memories, and your time here with us."
Forty Pearl's last day in business was August 17, 2024.
