West Michigan Park Transformed into Illuminated, Magical Winter Wonderland
Take a magical stroll through a West Michigan park that's being transformed into an illuminated winter wonderland - for free!
Ottawa County Parks and Recreation and Friends of Ottawa Country Parks are hosting the annual Holiday Luminary Event at Hemlock Crossing Park. The park and Nature Center will be lit with holiday cheer Friday Dec. 8 2023, 5p.m. to 7p.m. Hemlock Crossing is located at 8115 W Olive Rd. in West Olive, Mich.
There is no charge for attending, so bring your families and enjoy this magical evening!
Take a stroll along a luminary-lined path, which is just under a quarter of a mile, and take in colorfully lit trees. Hot cider, cookies, and candy canes will be waiting!
In years past there have also been crafts for kids and a mitten tree for anyone willing to donate. Past donations have gone to the Girls and Boys Clubs of Holland.
According to the Holland Sentinel, this is the third year for the Holiday Luminary Event at Hemlock Crossing Park in West Olive. The inaugural event in 2021 event brought more than 250 people to the park.
The Nature Center, located within Hemlock Crossing Park, has exhibits, a wildlife den with critters and activities, a wildlife viewing area where you can watch birds and animals at the feeders, and a gift shop.
The center also hosts a variety of educational programs for schools, special groups and the public.
Hemlock Crossing is also home to West Michigan's first public observatory.
