Thanks to all the zombie movies and TV shows they have made cannibalism more of a "normal" even though it is not real. However, the cannibalism in films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lambs shows the terror side of the concept of eating humans.

I do remember a story from when I was a kid about a plane carrying a Uruguayan rugby team that crashed in the Andes mountains. Survivors from the crash were forced to eat the bodies of their teammates after being stranded for ten weeks in freezing temperatures. No one was arrested but the survivors did have to carry that memory for the rest of their lives. This also happened in another country. So is cannibalism legal in Michigan?

Surprisingly there is no law in the United States or Michigan where cannibalism is illegal except for Idaho. The Gem State, also famous for potatoes, is the only state with an anti-cannibalism law. Idaho only passed this law in 1990 so technically cannibalism was legal there for a long time. There is a twist to their law that allows a defense if the act was committed in life-threatening circumstances as a means of survival.
