The John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids has been on a cuteness streak this summer. Earlier this year, John Ball Zoo introduced us to two new red pandas named Justin and Garnet.  Now, the zoo welcomes even more new life in the form of 3 adorable lynx kittens named Rocky, Yukon, and Jasper.

Rocky, Yukon, and Jasper

John Ball Zoo announced on their Facebook page that Canada Lynx parents Becca and Thor welcomed three new kittens on Thursday, May 23rd. Since then, the kittens have become more active outside and can be seen playing together, though the kits still spend most of their time inside.

Canada Lynx

The breeding of Becca and Thor is an exciting event because the lynx is a federally threatened species in the UShaving been on the Endangered Species list since 2000. Lynx are known for their gray fur, big feet, and long hind legs.

They usually live in forests that allow them to hide in the snow, which makes sense considering their primary source of food is snowshoe hares.

If you want to try getting a glimpse of Jasper, Yukon, Rocky, Thor, or Becca, the zoo is open every day until November 24th when the 2024 season is over. The zoo also currently has its "Dino Adventures" exhibit that features 22 life-sized robotic dinosaurs.
