Michigan Steakhouse Gets National Praise, is Named ‘Best’

There's nothing like a good, old-fashioned American steakhouse. Michigan is rich with 'em! And one restaurant is being called the very best steakhouse in the state.

Lovefood.com went on a mission to find the best steakhouses across the country. Using genuine user reviews, awards, and the first-hand experience of their team, they compiled a list of best steakhouses in each steak.

Lovefood's pick for the top steakhouse in Michigan is London Chop House in Detroit.

This is certainly not London Chop House's first national honor. It was also recently crowned the best fine dining restaurant in Michigan.

London Chop House is a James-Beard Award winning restaurant that first opened in 1938. In its heyday it was know as Detroit's premier restaurant. Sadly, it didn't survive changing times and closed in 1991. However, new owners reopened it in 2012 and it's once again flourishing!

Known for its old-school glamour, Lovefood calls it the best place in town for an exquisite meal.

For steak selection you'll find Australian Wagyu New York Strip, Filet Mignon, Dry Aged Boneless Ribeye, Bone-in Ribeye, and USDA Prime Porterhouse. London Chop House finishes each steak with garlic butter.

The menu also includes Double Cut Australian Lamb Chops, Brined Airline Chicken, Ahi Tuna, Baked Whole Fish, Sautéed Loup De Mer and Scallops, Lobster Tail, Braised Beef Short Rib, Hamburger Steak with Foie Gras, and more.

Sides include Asparagus, Mushrooms, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower Macaroni and Cheese, House Fried Potato, and Smashed Potato.

For appetizers, options include Lump Crab Cake, Steak Tartare, Berkshire Pork Belly, Oysters Rockefeller, Calamari.

The London Chop House also has a cigar lounge.

They host private events and musical acts as well.

The London Chop House is located at 155 W. Congress and is open Monday through Saturday 4p.m. to 9:30p.m.
