Michigan Restaurant Crowned Best Steakhouse in the Entire State

There's nothing like a good, old-fashioned American steakhouse. Michigan is rich with  eateries like this - and one restaurant has been named the very best steakhouse in the state.

24/7 Tempo sought to find the best steak restaurant in each state. To compile their list, they consulted reviews and ratings published by city, regional, and state websites, creating a shortlist of the most acclaimed establishments, then used editorial discretion to make their final choices.

Steakhouses that made the cut range from more than 100-years old to recently opened. According to 24/7 Tempo, all the chop houses take special care in sourcing their beef, with many of them aging the meat in-house and cutting it to order. Many offer traditional accompanying dishes, still others are expanding the options to include regional or international specialties.

24/7 Tempo's pick for the top steakhouse in Michigan is London Chop House in Detroit.

Of course, this is up for debate, as just recently another publication named a different steak restaurant the best in the state...

Although, I guess that just proves Michigan is a great place for steakhouses!

London Chop House is a James-Beard Award winning restaurant that first opened in 1938. In its heyday it was know as Detroit's premier restaurant. Sadly, it didn't survive changing times and closed in 1991. However, new owners reopened it in 2012 and it's once again flourishing!

24/7 Tempo compliments the restaurant's comfortable old-style glamour.

For steak selection you'll find Australian Wagyu New York Strip, Filet Mignon, Dry Aged Boneless Ribeye, Bone-in Ribeye, and USDA Prime Porterhouse.

The menu also includes Double Cut Australian Lamb Chops, Brined Airline Chicken, Ahi Tuna, Baked Whole Fish, Sautéed Loup De Mer and Scallops, Lobster Tail, Braised Beef Short Rib, Hamburger Steak with Foie Gras, and more.

Sides include Asparagus, Mushrooms, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower Macaroni and Cheese, House Fried Potato, and Smashed Potato.

For appetizers, options include Lump Crab Cake, Steak Tartare, Berkshire Pork Belly, Oysters Rockefeller, Calamari.

The London Chop House also has a cigar lounge.

They host private events and musical acts as well.

The London Chop House is located at 155 W. Congress and is open Monday through Saturday 4p.m. to 9:30p.m.
