And once again—Michigan's Upper Peninsula is being declared the best spot for fall foliage in the country. 

The U.P.'s 7 million acres of forest along the shores of three different Great Lakes make it ideal for scenic fall views.

USA Today points out that it's got 10 fall color routes that cover about 1,500 miles, so there are plenty of opportunities for colorful autumn drives.

According to uptravel.com, peak fall color season in the U.P. is usually the last week of September and the first two weeks of October.

Pure Michigan lists these six scenic stops in particular to check out fall colors:

  1. Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Paradise
  2. Fayette Historic State Park in Garden
  3. Threefold Vine Winery in Stephenson
  4. Kitch-iti-kipi in Manistique
  5. Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Ontonagon
  6. Brockway Mountain Drive in Copper Harbor
