Slow down: If you see a deer on or near the road, slow down and be prepared to stop. Deer are most active at dawn and dusk, so be especially cautious during these times.

Stay alert: Keep your eyes on the road and scan the sides of the road for any signs of movement. If you see one deer, there may be others nearby.

Honk your horn: If you see a deer in the road, honk your horn to try to scare it away. One long blast of the horn can be effective.

Brake firmly: If a deer runs out in front of your vehicle, brake firmly and stay in your lane. Swerving can cause you to lose control of your vehicle and make the situation worse.

Take your foot off the brake: Just before you hit the deer, take your foot off the brake. This will cause the nose of your vehicle to rise slightly, which can reduce the risk of the deer crashing through your windshield.

Stay in your vehicle: If you hit a deer, stay in your vehicle until it is safe to get out. Turn on your hazard lights and call emergency services if necessary.
