While most of us were focused on March Madness and cheering on the Michigan State Spartans and Oakland Grizzles, Another Michigan sports team is making headlines for an unfortunate reason.

The Detroit Lions announced that they had released cornerback Cam Sutton over allegations of domestic battery by strangulation.

Detroit Lions Have Released Cam Sutton After Domestic Battery Allegation

On Wednesday the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for Sutton's arrest earlier in March after an alleged incident in Lutz, Florida.

Sutton is accused of engaging in a domestic dispute that resulted in injuries to the victim, indicating a physical altercation had occurred.

Despite the warrant being issued two weeks ago, Sutton has not turned himself in and has been avoiding law enforcement

What Is Domestic Battery

Domestic battery is a type of assault and battery that occurs between family or household members, or between intimate partners.

It can include physical violence, such as hitting, kicking, or choking, as well as emotional abuse, such as threats or intimidation.

Domestic Battery by Strangulation is a third-degree felony that could lead to a maximum of five years in prison.

Everyone in America is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but with the details that have come in so far, Sutton is not doing himself any favors.

If Sutton is found guilty then I applaud the Lions organization for releasing him, It shows that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
