Do You Work In One Of Michigan’s Most Stressful Jobs?
Every job comes with its pros and cons.
For example, I host The Big Joe and Laura Show weekday mornings on Mix 95.7.
The pro is that most days I'm home by lunch, the con is I have to get up at 4 AM each morning.
I love what I do so getting up before the rooster crows is worth it to me.
But at the same time, I am also constantly stressed trying to figure out what to talk about each day.
What Is Considered A Stressful Job?
A job can be stressful for many reasons. One of my first radio jobs was very stressful and I really wanted to quit, because to get my foot in the door and be full-time with health insurance and other benefits I had to work a weird shift.
I would come in at 1 AM on Monday morning and watch the other radio stations overnight, and then at 5 AM I would start producing the morning show until 11 AM.
I then went home and tried to sleep during the day which I could never do.
Thankfully I was eventually able to get off that crazy shift and have a whole newfound respect for all the third-shift workers out there.
Some other things that can make a job super stressful include having to constantly make important decisions, face lots of criticism, limited breaks, and having to stay calm during intense situations.
The Department of Labor's Occupational Network has come out with a list of the most stressful jobs in the United States. Some of these stressful jobs come with great pay, while others have you scratching your head saying why would some do that for the pay.
