It's pretty difficult to find anything entertainment wise that is free today.

Local Radio, as in 100.5 The River, and local TV is free! It always has been because it's advertiser supported. Although it's nearly impossible to get local TV free because to watch it you either have to subscribe to a cable service or a streaming service.

Amazon created a free, ad-supported streaming service, called Freevee. Yes, you still had to pay for a high speed internet service to get it, but you didn't have to pay for their movies and live TV. That is until now, sort of.

The website Toms Guide.com just published that "Freevee is officially coming to an end in August of this year."

However, for all you users of Freevee, all is not lost. The Toms Guide.com article says:

"Amazon announced it was shutting down Freevee back in November 2024, citing a plan to streamline the viewing experience and bring all of its content into one unified app. In fact, Prime Video already offers a growing selection of ad-supported content available for free without a membership, and that free tier will continue even after Freevee is gone.

Amazon plans to migrate the majority of its Freevee programming directly into Prime Video, meaning viewers will still be able to enjoy free movies and TV shows, just from a new home."

So, the silver lining to all of this is that what had been on Freevee will still be available to both Prime members and non-Prime users through Prime Video.
