This weekend looks very nice, weather wise, and maybe you have a lot, or very little, planned. Football, leaves, golf, pickleball, I could go on.

Say what? Sweetest Day?

It is a day, somewhat like Valentine's Day, for you to do something loving for your loved one, or ones.

According to National Today.com, many of us in the Midwest will be giving flowers, or  candy, and maybe small gifts to those we care about the most.

Now that is sweet, right?

Sweetest Day is always in October and actually began way back in 1922 when a dozen of Cleveland’s candy companies banded together to make the day a little sweeter for some of the city’s most vulnerable people. They distributed more than 20,000 boxes of candy to newsboys, orphans, old folks, and the poor, National Today.com said.

Sweetest Day spread throughout the Midwest, and mainly seems to be a Midwest celebration including Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and even parts of Pennsylvania and New York, because they connect to the Great Lakes.

Sweetest Day is not a Hallmark special day, however. But not to be outdone by candy makers, they got into the mix pretty fast. So now you can also buy a lovely sweet card for your special person or people.
