Lansing-Area Girls Basketball Top 10 Poll – (January 23rd)
This week's girls poll is unique this week.
It's because I'm putting a team that, even though it's undefeated, is not the best team in the area at number 1. I am putting Bath at number 1 this week simply as a reward for being the last unbeaten team in the area.
I still believe that Lansing Catholic is the best overall team in the Lansing area despite three losses. But I can't put them at number 1 because of those losses to teams out of the area.
Williamston makes it into the poll for the first time this season as they lead the CAAC Red at the halfway point of the league schedule with a 5-0 league record.
And even though Morrice (at 8-1) was the first team left out this week. I wanted to give recognition to their star senior Aubrey Rogers, who crossed the 1,000 point plateau in a victory over Flint Beecher.
Some big games are on the slate for the rest of this week. On Tuesday, St. Johns is at DeWitt, Haslett is at Portland, and Leslie is at Hanover-Horton.
Wednesday is CMAC night. And unbeaten Bath visits 8-2 Portland St. Patrick, as well as 9-1 Fowler hosting 7-3 Dansville. Thursday's action features Williamston at St. Johns.
And on Friday, CMAC leaders Fowler and Bath do battle at Bath High School. Olivet is at Portland, Ovid-Elsie is at New Lothrop, and Morrice hosts Burton Bentley.
And on Saturday, Lansing Catholic steps up in class to face Rockford on the road.
I will recap everything that happened during the week on High School Rewind. The weekly show that recaps the week that was in high school basketball. It airs from 10a-11a on The Game 730 AM WVFN.
Ok, on with this week's rankings:
