The Best French Fries in Southwest Michigan According to The People Who Live There
HAPPY NATIONAL FRENCH FRY DAY, 2024!! Oh yeah, those beautifully gold and salty potato sticks (or crinkle, or curly, or waffle) that you can either share with the table, or hoard all for yourself. (Don't worry, we don't blame you.)
Michigan is known for its food and drink, so naturally, we have a lot of great options for french fries, and plenty of places right here in southwest Michigan to get some. But who has the best? We asked its residents, and they responded in kind.
National French Fry Day falls on the second "Fry"-Day of July ever year, and it should come as no surprise, it's one of those commercial holidays designed to sell more of one product. But you know what... with a bunch of places offering up free fries, or "BOGO" deals, I think we can let this one slide.
But now that we know all we really need to know about the holiday, where should we go to celebrate? Well, there's plenty of places to choose from, but the people of Southwest Michigan told us on social media where the best spots are.
We asked...
... and they answered.
Hopcat
We expected this one to pop up. Their "crack" fries with the almost sweet seasoning are unlike anything else in the region. They also offer up truffle, and fully loaded versions.
Latitude 42 Truffle Fries
This one was specific from Chris, who made it clear there's ONE version of fries that will surely keep you coming back.
Ritze Hamburgers
This Battle Creek burger joint has clean, simple crinkle fries that are reminiscent of old school diners. Classic.
Geno's Golden Pizza and Pub
Curious, you'd go to a pizza joint in Parchment for fries, but these battered fries have a familiar "crunch" in that first bite that some standard fries lack.
Rollup Ice Cream & Eatery
OK, first a pizza place, now an ice cream shop? Well, don't disregard it. Rollup on Gull Road has some standard fries, yes, but why not ask for the "Scoop" fries for those who like to ensure plenty of ketchup (or other sauces) on their fries.
Lake Burger Tavern
There's a couple options to visit for Lake Burger, and when you get there, there's some options for toppings, too. But these skin-on fries always look good.
Culvers
A Fast Food joint, yes, but is there really anything better than an order of crinkle fries to go with those butter burgers?
Blue Dolphin
Alright, I'll be honest, I haven't had these yet. In fact, there's only TWO types of fries on this list that I've never had (more on that to come), but I have heard good things, and I'm a sucker for thick-cut steak fries... they hold more ketchup and mustard.
Five Guys
Oh, you like fries? Well, here's an entire grocery bag of them with one burger on the side.
And finally....
The Air Fryer in "Troy's" Kitchen
I don't know who Troy is, but his comment on our post, up against Hopcat, McDonald's, Lake Burger, and all the other entries shows confidence. So... where's our invite Troy?
