Gone to Fun Park Heaven: Another Michigan Roadside Attraction
Here’s another Michigan Roadside attraction that bit the dust.
It was called Blue Star Playland, located between Holland and Saugatuck at 6069 Blue Star Highway in Allegan County.
With the digital age sending kids into the basement to game online, and adults acting like zombies as they sit transfixed in the living room playing home video games, it’s no wonder why so many of these Michigan roadside stops cashed it in.
Blue Star was a 14-acre playland with a driving range, mini-golf, arcade games, go-karts, batting cages, bumper boats, a game room, moon walk, and kiddie cars. It didn’t hurt that it was kitty-corner to the Starlight Drive-In Theatre, which made for a whole day and night’s worth of fun.
Blue Star flourished from the 1960s to the 1990s, then someone figured it was time to rip out all the fun park attractions and keep it golf-oriented, except for the mini-golf, which was also eliminated. It was transformed into the Hilltop Golf Center, keeping the driving range and adding a 9 hole course.
As of 2025, it is now known as Third Coast Links, with an on-site church.
