Michigan Casinos Hit Nearly $100M in September
While the rest of us are out counting our change for our next Meijer gas station coffee, Detroit's casinos nearly made $100 million — in one month. That's not a typo, that's $100 million Michigan 'donations' to the gaming gods. Again, that's only in September 2025. Just one calendar month of 'fun.'

September’s Big Number: $98.9M
The Michigan Gaming Control Board released its report for last month, revealing that MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown collectively generated $98.9 million in revenue. Not a bad haul for 30 days, but that's down 1.4% from the same period last year. Still, that 'shortage' is more than the average household will see in a year.
MGM, MotorCity & Greektown: Market Share Split
MGM dominated with a 47% take of the total revenue, followed by MotorCity with 30%, and Greektown with 23%. However, the State of Michigan will take $8 million in gaming taxes, and the City of Detroit will collect $16.1 million — enough to fill potholes...on like two streets.
Sports Betting Woes at Greektown
It's not all good news for the Detroit casinos. Greektown lost nearly a quarter of a million dollars on sports betting. It appears Detroit Lions optimism might be tanking their books. MGM and MotorCity reported sports betting profits of $394,500 and $589,142, respectively.
