No doubt that clowns can be scary...take a good close look at the makeup. It can be very frightening to a kid, and that fear of clowns very well hangs on into adulthood for many people.

I have never been afraid of clowns, but then, I never sought them out, either. I always saw them as enjoyable and harmless.

Then, along comes the film “IT” with the clown Pennywise to install fear in the unsuspecting and to resurrect that clown fear in adults.

And if that wasn’t enough, the “Creepy Clown” phase kicked in a number of years ago, with individuals dressing up as scary clowns and sending shockwaves to the unexpected.

That was followed by a remake of “IT”, further cementing the creepy clown factor.
We can’t escape it.
But legit, professional clowns are nothing to fear.

Michigan kiddie TV shows had its share of clowns: Milky the Clown, Bozo, Jingles, Ricky the Clown...those were the more popular ones..

Every summer, most of the towns throughout Michigan have clowns appear at annual events making balloon animals, doing magic tricks and caricatures, and just doing their best to make us laugh.

Michigan has a good share of local clowns all throughput the state, so this year, just laugh along with them....and keep a tight grip on the hand of anyone who still has a bit of clown uneasiness in them.
