U of M Alum David Portnoy’s Top 15 Michigan Pizza Slices

One Bite, Everyone Knows the Rules in Michigan
Portnoy, also known as 'El Presidente' of the company he founded, Barstool Sports. A true aficionado of pizza pies, Portnoy has dedicated a good portion of his life to the pursuit of finding the world's best pizza, and in order to do so, he has pledged to try at least one pizza day until he does.

His reviews follow the same formula each time:
- Portnoy comes out of the pizza location with a box or plate of pizza
- He opens the box to reveal the pie
- He takes one bite, followed by several more usually, and rates the pizza on a scale from 1-10.
He seems to have a palette for pizza however and has admitted to 'liking' Detroit Style Pizza. His breakdown of what makes a good Detroit Style is dead on, so you may want to lean into these reviews a little more than the snooty types who talk about 'hints of garlic and thyme'. Portnoy talks about crust density, crunch, and proper sauce ratios.
