Even With a Receipt These 6 Target Items Can’t Be Returned in Michigan
If you've ever stood in a Michigan Target return line clutching a receipt like it's evidence in a court case, you already know this store runs a tight ship. Target is generous, but not "bring back a half-used item and a sob story" kind of generous. There are rules. Many rules. And some of them will absolutely ruin your day if you didn't read the fine print before making that impulse buy.

Target’s Return Policy Is Generous Until It Isn’t
Let's start with the good news. Most everyday items can be returned or exchanged within the standard window in the Mitten, especially if you have your receipt and didn't treat the product like it owed you money. Buy a Target-owned brand and hate it? You've got a full year to bring it back. If you use a Target Circle Card, you'll get an extra 30 days to reconsider your choice.
Items Target Will Exchange But Not Refund
Some items, however, live in a gray area. Opened movies, video games, and software aren't refundable, but Target will swap them out for the same title. Airbeds fall into the same category: Target's polite way of saying, "We know you inflated it and slept on it, nice try." Electronics get a shorter leash, Apple products even shorter, and phones come with up to a $35 restocking fee that can feel personal.

The Items Target Will Never Take Back
Then there are the absolute no-fly zones for Michigan Target shoppers. Purchasing these items can feel so final, so unreturnable; they might as well come with a tattoo that says "Forever."
