Warning: Highly Contagious Illnesses On The Rise in Michigan
Have you noticed that everyone around you has been sick recently? Co-workers, kids, friends. No one seems to be safe at this time of the year.
With the temperatures plummeting and everyone staying indoors more often, that is the perfect breeding ground for germs to grow, and for many to also get sick.
Warning: Highly Contagious Illnesses On The Rise in Michigan
There are a couple of different virus strains that are currently going around in Michigan. We've seen an uptick in the common cold, RSV, whopping cough and even walking pneumonia.
But there is another virus that is currently on the rise here in the state of Michigan that you should be aware of.
Officials are warning of an increase in Influenza A (flu), which is currently at it's peak. Influenza A, does tend to clear up on it's own on a time span of 3 to 7 days, but it can lead to complications for those with a weakened immune system or the young and elderly.

So far, 31 pediatric deaths have resulted from the Influenza A outbreak.
Typical symptoms of Influenza A include fever, chills, a cough, sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, muscle aches, headaches, and even fatigue.
How To Avoid Getting Sick This Winter
To avoid the spread of these viruses, it is recommended to wash your hands often. Avoid contact with those who are currently sick. You can also get vaccines to prevent you and those around you from getting sick, especially those with a weakened immune system.
