Michigan Warning: 58 Million Pounds of Corn Dogs Recalled Over Wood Risk
Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the recall territory, they pull you right back in. You should check your freezers, though, if you do your shopping here in the state of Michigan. A massive recall is currently underway.
Millions of frozen corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick products could put you at risk here in Michigan.
What Caused The Recall in Michigan
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that 58 million pounds of products from Hillshire Brands, a part of Tyson Foods, are being pulled from shelves because they could contain wood that was baked on the outside of the batter itself.
At least five people have reported injuries linked to these issues.
What Products Are Affected
So far, the most notable amongst the recalled products have been the State Fair Corn Dogs and Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick. However, some unbranded shipments had gone to schools, cafeterias, and similar institutions.
Every recalled item had been made between March 17 and September 26, 2025.
How Do You Know If You're Affected?
There are a couple of things you can look for, especially if you think you may have purchased a bad batch. "EST-582" and "P-894" have been recalled. You are being urged to return the product if you do have it, or simply discard of it immediately.
This is a Class I recall, according to the FSIS, which can be one of the most serious kinds of recalls. It means that if you eat the product, you might have a strong chance of serious health problems. If you believe you may have been injured after using the product, please contact your doctor immediately.
