Buying in bulk can save you both time and money; however, it doesn't help when those items that you purchased in bulk get recalled. If you've done any shopping at Costco recently, here in the state of Michigan, you should be aware of a brand new recall hitting Michigan.

What product was recalled

The Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke, which was sold at the deli, is currently being recalled because of the possibility of the product containing Listeria. The problem was with the green onions in the mix testing positive.

No illnesses have been reported, but it is still serious.

Health risks of Listeria

Listeria can be dangerous, especially for those with a weakened immune system, the young, seniors, or pregnant. Symptoms can include, but are not limited to, fever, headache, nausea, severe aches, or stomach issues.

Which Costco locations could be affected

The affected product has a "sell by" date of September 22, 2025, and was prepared on September 18. Over 3,000 pounds of poke are involved in this recall.

If you live in Michigan, you will want to check this out. Costco has roughly 18 different warehouses across the state of Michigan. That means your local store may have carried the recalled poke. Stores like Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, East Lansing, Traverse City, and Livonia are among the locations.

What to do if you bought it

If you have purchased the product and it has a sell-by date of 9/22, you should not eat it. Either toss it out or take it back to Costco for a full refund.

The recall comes after a surge of seafood products have been recalled from stores like Kroger and Walmart, which raises concerns for those who are looking for convenience, especially with the ready-to-eat seafood.
