Lansing Scratch-Off Turns Into A $1 Million Shock
If you needed a little Michigan "anything can happen" energy today, here is a story for you. And Ingham County guy just hit a $1 million win on the Michigan Lottery's Millionaire Maker instant game.
Where The Winning Ticket Was Bought
According to the Lottery, he bought the ticket at Louie's Party Store on South Washington Avenue in Lansing, and that is when he got lucky. He scratched the barcode first, scanned it, and got the message telling him he needed to file a claim.
When he scratched the rest of the ticket is when he realized that is a $1 million win, he could barely focus on driving home... and honestly, who can blame him.
Instead of taking the prize as an annuity that pays the full $1 million over time, he did chose to lump-sum the cash. After takes and all the usual deductions, that one-time payment came out to $693,000.
What He Plans To Do With The Money
And he's not doing anything too wild with it right away either. He told the Lottery his plan is to pay off his house and buy a new truck. So he won't be quitting his job, finding a small private island, or anything too crazy.
Major props to whoever sold him that ticket Louie's, because can you do me next? But also what're the odds of getting that ticket?
