Michigan drivers are used to seeing plenty of things along the highway. Construction barrels, broken-down cars, and even a deer a little too close to the highway. Someone maybe driving a little to close to your rear bumper.

A plane, however, is probably not on that list.

Engine Trouble Forces Emergency Landing

The Flint Township police said the pilot was trying to land when a mechanical failure occurred and the engine stalled.

You can see the video below:

The pilot, who was the only person aboard, brought the single-engine plane down on the highway shoulder near the Bristol Road exit and I-75.

There is another shot of the video that you can see here, as well.

Police reported no injuries, and no vehicles were damaged when this happened.

I-69 Reopens After Temporary Closure

The incident temporarily closed all westbound lanes of I-69 at Bristol Road. The highway has since reopened.

Bishop Airport Remains Open as Investigation Continues

Bishop International Airport identified the aircraft as a DA-20 and said airport personnel responded to help. Those personnel have since cleared the scene, according to a statement.

The airport also said the incident did not affect its operations. Bishop remained open and operational during the incident.
