If you have a love and appreciation for Taylor Swift, and want to say you have a Master's in all things Taylor Swift, you may be interested to know that MSU has a new course that is about "The Taylor Swift Phenomenon."

Why MSU Chose Taylor Swift

It's a brand new course being offered this fall semester at Michigan State University, and they're taking an academic spin on All Too Well. The course is ISS 210: Society & the Individual: The Taylor Swift Phenomen.

Connecting Fandom to Culture

The class aims at looking at and examining not just Taylor as the pop icon she is, but what she has done to rally society as a whole.

Professor Emily Muhich, who is a social science faculty member, has designed this brand new course to take a step further from just the fandom. Between the gender criticism, belonging, and even her rise into the pop icon that she currently is. Munhcih says she wants students to use art as a mirror, and not just see Taylor Swift the artist, but to see ourselves as well.

Other Universities Offering Swift Studies

While MSU seems to be ahead of the ball on this one, they're not the only ones jumping on this phenomenon. In fact, colleges across the country are participating in "Taylor Swift-themed" classes, more so analyzing her lyrics, cultural influence, and even branding.

Taylor is set to drop her brand new album, Life of a Showgirl, on October 3rd, which has fans excited, especially with Max Martin being on as a producer for the album. The Taylor phenomenon isn't over yet... we still have a wedding to plan.
