What’s Next for Lansing’s Iconic Airport Tavern & Steakhouse?
What's going on at Airport Tavern & Steakhouse?
If you've lived, worked, or played in Lansing for any period of time in the past 50-plus years, you'll probably recognize the name Airport Tavern. Heck, there's a chance you might be a regular there (shout out to the Tavvies).
Changes Coming to Airport Tavern & Steakhouse
If that's the case, you might know that there's some changes happening at The Airport Tavern & Steakhouse.
Just before the new year, former owner Pete Sinadinos announced that he'd be retiring on Facebook. Pete gave a very loving and heartfelt goodbye to everyone—from employee to patron.
However, just because Pete is retiring doesn't mean that Airport Tavern won't live on; he was able to sell the business. Pete's retirement was announced December 29, 2025; and on January 1, 2026, it was announced that the Airport Tavern had been sold.
New Ownership at Airport Tavern
The announcement was made in another post to the restaurant and bar's Facebook page, reading: "Due to transition of ownership, Airport Tavern will be closed from January 1st - 9th! Sorry for the inconvenience! Look forward to servicing the community again soon! Happy New Years!". That message is signed, Marcus Powers, the new owner of Airport Tavern.

The Airport Tavern had hoped to reopen by the 9th, but it seems that the official reopening will be delayed. "Due to uncontrollable circumstances outside the current owner and previous owners control, the official re-opening of the Airport Tavern is currently to be determined."

The Airport Tavern has been around for 55 years, so they want to keep this longtime Lansing favorite open. For what that will look like, we'll have to stay tuned to the Airport Tavern's social media.
