Barnes & Noble Opening Second Lansing Store in Frandor
If you were hoping a Spirit Halloween would show up in the old Party City location at the Frandor Shopping Center in Lansing, this is going to be disappointing.
America's largest retail bookstore, Barnes & Noble, has announced plans for a second Lansing location at 420 N. Clippert Street, the same space occupied by Party City until its closure last year.
Barnes & Noble currently has a location at Lansing Mall on the city's west side. That store is expected to remain open.
Frandor Location Set to Open by Holiday Season
The new Frandor location is expected to be open in November 2025 — likely before Black Friday and the unofficial beginning of the holiday shopping season.

News of the new Barnes & Noble location is being met with excitement from Frandor shoppers.
"Between work and the kids, I rarely get time for myself," said Jennifer Bradshaw of Lansing. "But a cozy spot like that? I'll absolutely make time. I've missed browsing real shelves instead of scrolling online."

Karen Deal of DeWitt is happy about the news too.
"I've always loved wandering through bookstores, just taking my time. With this one so close, I'll probably be there every week."
How Big Will the New Store Be?
According to Lormax Stern, the development company which handles the Frandor Shopping Center, the new Barnes & Noble footprint will be about 16,800 square feet. For comparison purposes, that's just a little bigger than Frandor's Great Lakes Ace Hardware (15,300 square feet), and slightly smaller than Guitar Center (17,060 square feet).
