The new location will be constructed in the Delta Crossing development, northwest of the intersection of I-69/I-96 and West Saginaw Highway, and is expected to create more than 100 jobs.
Why Is Bass Pro Shops Building a New Location in Lansing?
Building a new location in Lansing seems to make perfect sense strategically for the company. It positions the new store not only to draw in visitors from the local vicinity, but also to catch travelers as they pass through the Lansing area on their way to some of Michigan's most popular hunting, fishing, and camping destinations.
Bass Pro Shops plans the new location to be a "tribute to the great sporting heritage of the region and a celebration of the sportsmen and women of Michigan," promising to "design the store’s localized imagery to reinforce its immersive outdoor theme". No two locations are exactly the same.
If you've never been inside a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World location, think of it as a woodsy Meijer specializing in all things outdoors. The store offers everything from hunting, fishing and camping gear to apparel and gifts for the outdoors enthusiast in your life.
Michigan has five other Bass Pro Shops locations, including two in suburban Detroit, one in greater Grand Rapids, one in Saginaw, and one in Dundee.
