
East Lansing Loses Beloved Big Mom’s House Restaurant
Lansing's food landscape has changed once again, this time with a loss.
East Lansing Restaurant Closes
There's one fewer restaurant in East Lansing now, as Big Mom's House has permanently closed.
Big Mom's House, located on Grand River Avenue between Milford and Stoddard, was most well known for serving Korean cuisine, ramen, and Korean-style corn dogs. And it had a pretty large following.
When Did Big Mom's House Close?
Although there's no word on exactly when Big Mom's House closed its doors, it does seem to have been within the last month or so. Members of the Lansing Foodies group on Facebook responded to a recent question about it, saying it was open as recently as late December.

Today, if you go to the site of the former business in person, you can see that it is indeed closed. There are multiple "For Lease" signs in the windows of the building; some of the inside signage is taken down; and the phone number for the restaurant has been crossed out.

And although no word has been posted on the restaurant's apparent social media, the final official word is that Google lists Big Mom's House as permanently closed.
The Lansing Food Scene
It's always sad to see a local place close its doors, especially one that was so loved by its patrons.
This isn't the only East Lansing spot to close recently. In 2025, East Lansing saw Handie, No Thai!, Starbucks, and Capo's Cheesesteaks Hoagies & Grill.
