We all want our valuables to be safe, which is why I would venture to guess that if you're reading this, you've probably hidden something valuable within your home.

We take time to find and prepare the perfect spot we think will remain hidden and undiscovered in the case of a possible burglar breaking into your home. However, some of those hiding spots might be more common than you think.

Crime Stats for Michigan

Michigan Incident Crime Reporting defines burglary as

Burglary-Forced Entry (the unlawful forcible entry of a building or other structure, with the intent to commit a theft or felony) and Burglary-Entry Without Force (the unlawful entry, without force, with the intent to commit a theft or felony).

And in 2022, MICR states there were 21,866 reports of burglary within the Mitten State, which is a 3.1% increase from the year before.
