Michigan is about to lose all locations of a longtime retail store.

Outdoor Retailer Closing All Locations

If you're an outdoors person, you're probably familiar with the brand, Eddie Bauer.

Eddie Bauer has been a purveyor of outdoor apparel, equipment, accessories, and gear for over 100 years now. However, some of that is about to change as the North American store operator of the brand has announced it's filing for bankruptcy.

Eddie Bauer's Retail Operator Plans to Close Stores After Filling for Bankruptcy

In addition to filing for bankruptcy, Eddie Bauer's store operator announced that it would be closing all store locations nationwide. The closures mark another shift in the changing retail landscape across Michigan.

Here in Michigan, there are nine locations that we'll see shuttered:

  • Auburn Hills
  • Birch Run
  • Clinton Township
  • Grandville
  • Howell
  • Livonia
  • Novi
  • Rochester
  • West Branch

While the North American store operators of the brand announced its filing for bankruptcy, the filing does not impact Eddie Bauer's manufacturing, wholesale, or e-commerce operations. Additionally, the filing does not impact retail operations outside of the US and Canada.

Nationwide Impact: 175 Stores Closing

There are 175 locations nationwide that will close unless Catalyst Brands—the company that operates the Eddie Bauer stores—can find a buyer for the brand.
