The Tipsy Nickel Bar & Grill in Mason suffered from a fire on Saturday, February 14. Manager Brandy Warvel first smelled the smoke at around 7 pm, that's when she called the Mason Fire Department.

While the investigation is still ongoing, Mason Fire Chief Kerry Minshall believes the fire was accidental and there's nothing suspicious about the circumstances. It appears that the fire started inside a wall and then traveled up to the attic.
The Future of The Tipsy Nickel
The combination of both the staff and firefighters acting quickly is what really made the difference in saving The Tipsy Nickel, or it could have been a total loss.
The Mason restaurant will be closed for some time during repairs, as the Warvels plan to reopen as soon as they can. In the meantime, staff will work at the family's other establishment in Dansville — the Wooden Nickel II.

There is absolutely no good time for a fire, but it's especially hard hitting at this time because The Tipsy Nickel is set to celebrate its three-year anniversary at this South Cedar location this spring. Hopefully they're able to reopen as soon as possible.
Repairs are expected to take several weeks, though an exact reopening timeline has not yet been announced by ownership.
