It's official now: Spare Time Entertainment Center in Lansing is no more.

What Happened to Spare Time Entertainment Center in Lansing?

Spare Time has sat empty since May 2025, when the building was damaged in a fire. Since then, the business had a sign outside listing the space as temporarily closed.

However, the business was just declared permanently closed on October 19, and the building and the land it's on are both up for sale.

This marks the end of an era for Spare Time. However, there's a piece of Spare Time that will live on in a new way.

Spare Time's Bowling Alley Floors Are Getting a Second Life

Part of what made Spare Time Entertainment Center special was its bowling alley. Now, those bowling alley floors are going to be repurposed for use at High Caliber Karting & Entertainment in Okemos.

However, they won't be bowling alley floors... they're going to be turned into skating rink floors!

High Caliber announced plans for this brand new roller rink on October 19. Julissa Munsters, the entertainment center's president, said that they are excited to bring some nostalgia to High Caliber with this addition.

High Caliber's New Roller Rink Is Expected to Open in November

The skate rink, which is replacing the fowling activity, isn't open just yet. However, it should be open soon, as High Caliber is planning an opening sometime in early November. We'll find out about hours and pricing with the opening date, as well.

A skating rink opening at High Caliber will be a great addition to the area, particularly because of the nostalgia it will bring. When this skating rink opens, it will be the second in the Greater Lansing area, joining Edru Skate in Holt.
