Famous YouTube Chef Can’t Get the Name of This Michigan Food Right
Have you ever heard the name, Joshua Weissman?
He's a YouTuber who rose to fame for his culinary expertise and the fun ways in which he showcased it. If you check out his YouTube page, he'd say he enjoys making
entertaining, exciting, and inspirational videos about food and cooking. I'm obsessive about bread, and I like to eat things that have a large quantity of butter in them. All I want is to entertain and excite YOU about food, and maybe inspire you to go cook something yourself.
My husband and I really enjoy watching his funny and delicious videos, so much so that I've purchased Hubby one of the cookbooks so that he can cook along.

But, as much as I enjoy Joshua Weissman, I've got a bone to pick with him.
One of the videos on his channel has him and a couple of members of his team trying 'food from every state in America'. He had his followers from every state vote for what food they thought best represented their state, he made that food, and then ranked each dish, with the "S" rank being the best of the best, followed by the classic A, B, C, D, and F.
Ranking the Food From Each State
Here's the deal, I feel like Josh and his fellow taste-testers were fair with their rankings. They were thoughtful during deliberation and scored each dish accordingly.
For example;
Ohio voted for Cincinnati-style chili (which is chili on top of spaghetti noodles, topped with raw onions and shredded cheese—gross), and it got the score it deserved, an F. Just like the state of Ohio.
So here's my beef, it's not with his ranking, but with Weissman's abysmal pronunciation of Michigan's trademark food.
Joshua Weissman Can't Pronounce Michigan's Signature Food
Michiganders voted for the pasty as the food that best represents our state.
And you guessed it-he pronounced it wrong!
He pronounces its "paste-ee" instead of "past-ee".
Not only that, but he spells it incorrectly!

I mean, I'll give him some benefit of the doubt because they gave it a ranking of "A", but seriously dude... we'd love it if you'd pronounce it correctly.
I do jest just a bit because I know words that you're unfamiliar with can be hard. But if you'd like a little chuckle, you can go to the video below and skip to the 14-minute 41-second mark and watch the tasting and ranking of Michigan's pasty.
