This time, we're losing a local, family-owned butcher and meat market that's been around for nearly two decades.

Mid-Michigan Meat Market Closing Permanently

The announcement was made just this last Sunday, September 24th.

After 17 years in the business, the owners of Merindorf Meat Market have announced that they will be closing the Williamston location.

The announcement was made via their Facebook page over the weekend.

The Williamston location will close its retail space on September 30th, so if you want to visit it, make sure you do so by then.

Merindorf Meats

If you typically stop by this store on the way to or from "up north", thankfully, you won't have to miss out. Merindorf Meats has another location in Mason (2289 W Barnes Rd, Mason) that will remain open.

Also, something to keep in mind is that while the closing of the retail store is sad, it doesn't seem like they are closing entirely. On the contrary, they are hoping to expand the business in a new way.

According to the Facebook post, Merindorf is hoping to become a wholesale distributor;

Our business goal is to expand and become USDA Federally Inspected, which will allow us to become a wholesale distributor. The future of Merindorf Meats is bright, and we are excited to bring many of you along with us on that journey.

If you are on a quest to find some awesome, local meat markets, there's the second Merindorf Meats location and a whole bunch of others. You can check out some excellent mid-Michigan meat markets HERE.
