This Michigan City Is the High Blood Pressure Capital of America
A new study has revealed that a Michigan city leads the rest of the nation when it comes to high blood pressure.
Lawnstarter pored through data from the 500 biggest cities in America, looking for the nation's most relaxed cities. Turns out much of Michigan isn't that relaxed at all.

Researchers looked at data reflecting each city's physical, mental and financial well-being; work, social and environmental stressors; and recreational options. More than 40 different criteria were considered, ranging from depression and suicide rates to available leisure time to crime, weather and walkability.
When all the numbers were crunched, two Michigan cities were at the very bottom of the list.
Flint, Michigan Is the Least Relaxed City in America
While Flint's recreational options weren't considered to be bad, the city performed very poorly in regards to physical, mental and financial well-being - landing among the worst 3 cities in the nation for each of those metrics. Flint also finds itself among the worst 10 for social stressors such as crime, marital issues, and the number of sex offenders per capita.
All the factors combined to earn Flint the dubious title of "Least Relaxed City in America" for 2024.
Detroit Didn't Fare Much Better
Michigan's biggest city was determined to be the second least relaxed city in the entire country, barely behind Flint.
Only Baltimore, Maryland, is worse than Detroit when it comes to one's overall physical well-being, according to this study. The data revealed that Detroit actually leads the nation concerning the number of residents who experience high blood pressure (46%), and the number of residents who have had a stroke (5.5%).
Detroit also ranks among the nation's ten worst cities for financial well-being and environmental stressors.
