It's shaping up to be an absolutely gorgeous weekend to be out-and-about in Mid-Michigan! Here are a few things you can get into within a couple hours' drive of Lansing. several of them rather close by.

Legend of Sleepy Howell

Howell's Scofield City Park hosts three rounds of drive-thru trick-or-treating Friday night (10/21) during this year's Legend of Sleepy Howell. Alice in Wonderland is the theme this year. Advance registration at your choice of times is recommended.

Oktoberfest at Block 36

Bath's own Sadie Bass headlines the entertainment at Oktoberfest, this Saturday (10/22) from 2pm to 10pm at Block 36 on Coleman Road in East Lansing. Bass is currently a contestant on this season of NBC's "The Voice". The Kathy Ford Band will also perform, and food trucks and a beer tent will be available too.

Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village

The Henry Ford in Dearborn hosts Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village this weekend and next (10/20 through 10/23, and 10/27 through 10/30). Costumed characters will greet visitors, with skits and "newly imagined storybook experiences" sprinkled throughout.the village. Special lighting and sound effects add to the Halloween mystique.

How-to Halloween

A "How-to Halloween" is what you get when you mix equal parts Maker Faire, Comic Con, Craft Show, Science Museum, Music Festival and Halloween Carnival. Fun for the entire family includes costume contests and trick-or-treating. This event is happening at the Lansing Center on Saturday and Sunday (10/22 and 10/23).

Michigan Mead Night

Ready for Michigan Mead Night? Charlotte is! Look for this event at Beach Market on Lovett Street on Saturday (10/22) from 1pm to 11pm. Craft meads and ciders and live entertainment await you.

Witches on the Town

Downtown Mason hosts Witches on the Town this Saturday (10/22) from 1pm to 6pm. Organizers for this event warn to "leave your little monsters at home". Several participating merchants will be offering special discounts and goodies during the day, and there'll be a costume contest too.
