Despite a few days of warmer, spring-like temperatures, rain showers and even a few thunderstorms this March, winter wants to make sure Mid-Michigan knows it's not quite ready to leave.

Forecasters predict a wintry weather pattern will return to the area by the end of the week, potentially resulting in snow accumulations of half a foot or more, depending on where you are.

Potential Snowfall Across Mid-Michigan This Weekend

Most weather experts aren't ready to start talking about snowfall totals just yet, but they are in agreement that Mid-Michigan is likely to see snowflakes flying again by late Saturday night into Sunday.

"The pattern remains active through the weekend with snow chances Saturday night and rain and snow expected Sunday with highs both days near 40," says Chief Meteorologist Darrin Rockcole of WILX News 10 in Lansing.

The National Weather Service is also forecasting a mix of rain and snow all weekend, but is not yet issuing any accumulation predictions.

AccuWeather is going out on a limb early with snowfall predictions of up to half a foot or more for parts of Mid-Michigan from late Saturday throughout the day on Sunday. According to its latest forecasts, up to 7" could be expected in some locations along the I-96 corridor, including Ionia, Grand Ledge, and Fowlerville, with lesser amounts north and south of there.
