Pursuing Pressed Pennies? Here’s Where to Find Them in Lansing

Whenever we go somewhere new or do something memorable, we want a souvenir. At least, I find that to be true for me. Just a little something that I can hold on to, to help preserve the memories.

But what about those souvenirs that are slightly more useless and are basically just there to look at and collect, like say, pressed pennies?

Pressed Pennies

Pressed pennies are a souvenir that I collect, so when I say useless and basically just there to look at, please don't take offense. But seriously, that's all they're really good for; to look at and to remember.

I'm not ashamed to say that I've spent a pretty penny on pressed pennies throughout my lifetime. And I'm always on the hunt for them, which is why I was ecstatic to learn that we had some machines in Lansing.

However, I was equally saddened to learn that there are places in Lansing that I feel should have a pressed penny machine, and they don't.

Pressed Pennies in Lansing

The Lansing Lugnuts and Jackson Field should have a pressed penny machine, and there's not a thing you can say to change my mind. It's an iconic place here in Lansing, and Big Lug would look awesome on a penny.

Michigan State's campus is another area that should have at least a few pressed penny machines, like one by the stadium, one by Sparty, and one by Beaumont Tower.

The Michigan State Capitol building. It's a historic site for our state, and you could put so much on those pennies... the Capitol building itself, the state bird, the state flower, and the list goes on...

But now that I'm done ranting about places that need a pressed penny machine, let's talk about where to find the places in Lansing that already have one!

Impression 5 Science Center at 200 Museum Dr, Lansing

According to the Penny Collector Website, Impression 5 has a couple of choices; the head of a gorilla or the head of a t-rex.

Michigan Historical Museum

The Michigan History Center is home to a machine with four designs; the Paleo Indians, the Michigan Capitol Building, the Historical Museum building, and an Oldsmobile Curved Dash Runabout.

Potter Park Zoo

There are multiple machines throughout the zoo, with designs featuring a tiger, a lemur, a lion, an orangutan, and a rhino.
