3 Major Red Flags for People Heading to Lansing
I will fully admit that I am not a Lansing native. I'm a former Metro Detroit transplant who moved up here about 12 or 13 years ago now. But honestly, I love living in Lansing.
Maybe it's because I didn't grow up here that I love and appreciate it so much. Where I hail from, if I wanted to do anything fun (ie. go to a concert, take in a ball game, or just find a cool new place to eat or drink) the options were limited. Sure, I may have lived in what's considered Metro Detroit, but entertainment was not nearby.
I love that Lansing has an abundance of variety when it comes to entertainment, food, districts, and more. However, despite knowing that there is a lot to love about Lansing, there are still some things I wish I knew about before making the move out here.
This isn't me being a hater on Lansing, this is just me calling it like I see it. And I have a feeling my fellow Lansing residents might agree.
Things to Know Before Moving to Lansing, Michigan
Let's start with something that every driver's license carrying person driving through Lansing should be aware of.
There are WAY More One-Way Roads Than You Think
Just because you're driving along a one-way road doesn't mean you don't have to watch out for oncoming traffic. I can't tell you how many times I've had a driver coming at me straight on, the wrong way, while on Saginaw by 127 near Frandor.
Speaking of Frandor...
You Need to Have Nerves of Steel, and a Car That's Even Stronger, to Drive the Frandor Parking Lot
When I first moved to Lansing, the nearest grocery store to where I lived was the Kroger in Frandor. I had no idea the nightmare-inducing mayhem that awaited me in that dreaded parking lot.
Drive with caution. Also, shout out to the Horrocks' parking lot for the same thing basically.
And finally...
Everyone is obsessed with Olive Burgers, and They Just Aren't Good
I love a good burger, don't get me wrong. But I truly don't understand the obsession with the olive burger. Green olives, bleh! Mixed in a mayo sauce... no thank you.
