40+ Jaw-Dropping Metal Sculptures Hit Old Town Lansing
ScrapFest returned to Old Town Lansing this weekend, with nearly 50 sculptures on display made completely from recycled materials.
The annual art festival takes place each summer in Lansing and also serves as a competition and fundraiser.
How ScrapFest Works
In May, teams of artists were given an hour to collect up to 500 pounds of scrap metal at a local recycling center.

They then had a month to turn their finds into works of art that would go up for bid or for sale at ScrapFest.
A Festival for a Cause
Proceeds are split among the artist teams, the festival and a local charity — this year's nonprofit being the Old Town Commercial Association.
Old Town's Turner Street was shut down from Cesar E. Chávez Boulevard to Beaver Street for the free festival, now in its 15th year. Thousands of people from Lansing and beyond turned out to admire all the artistic talents and creations on display.

"I just can't believe the imaginations of some of these people," said festival attendee Sarah Elliott of Lansing. "This stuff is simply amazing."
