Lansing Community Says Goodbye to Tantay After Owner’s Health Battle
A hemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm left Aste unable to work, and after three months of being temporarily closed, he made the decision to permanently close his brick-and-mortar location. Here's the message that was on Tantay's Facebook page:
Friends, family, customers, and our incredible Lansing community — after much reflection, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Tantay’s restaurant and food truck operations.Running a food business is a beautiful challenge — one filled with meaningful connections, growth, and countless lessons. Over the past few years, I’ve faced two major health challenges — a serious knee injury and a brain surgery — both of which reminded me what truly matters most: health, family, and time.After deep thought, my family and I know this is the best step forward.
Tantay has been open for less than a year at its brick-and-mortar location in Okemos, on Jolly Road west of the Okemos Road intersection. Prior to that, Tantay was in a shared kitchen space in Lansing's Allen Neighborhood Center.
