Town-by-Town Mid-Michigan Snowfall Predictions for December 22-24
* This story was updated at 3:45pm on 12/21/22
Some portions of Mid-Michigan could be buried beneath up to a foot and a half of snow before Christmas, according to the latest projections from forecasters at AccuWeather.com. However, the National Weather Service is being a little more conservative with its estimates.
A developing winter storm is expected to begin dropping snow onto Mid-Michigan by Thursday morning, with relatively minor accumulations expected during the day on Thursday. Snowfall rates will ramp up, the winds will increase and blizzard conditions are likely in much of Michigan overnight Thursday and throughout the day on Friday before the storm tapers off on Saturday.
The timing couldn't be worse for Michiganders planning to travel in advance of Christmas Day.
Frigid air, ongoing gusty winds, blowing and drifting snow and hard-packed snow and ice on the roads will continue to make for horrendous travel conditions on Christmas Eve and perhaps into Christmas Day across much of the Midwest. - Accuweather.com
Exactly how much snow is Mid-Michigan expected to get in the days leading up to Christmas? Here's an early look at predictions, broken down by municipality.
