I know that on the list of priorities, this may fall near the bottom. However, it's glaringly obvious that the Okemos High School welcome sign could use a little love.

Vehicle Crash Damages Okemos High School Sign

On the evening of Wednesday, October 19th, WILX reported that two vehicles were involved in an accident, during which, one of the vehicles swerved into the Okemos High School welcome sign. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. However, the accident did leave the welcome sign in a less-than-welcoming state.

The electronic screens are barely hanging on, and the corner where the two sides meet is mostly a heap of bricks.

When Will the Okemos High School Sign be Fixed?

The report that WILX gave did not mention if there was any one particular party that was at fault, leaving me to wonder whose responsibility it is to fix the sign. I have no skin in the game, I'm just genuinely curious.

Is it the responsibility of one of the drivers or their insurance to cover the cost of repairs? Does the responsibility lie with the school? Or perhaps the city of Okemos itself? Regardless of who's responsible, it seems like the sign should have been fixed by now. At the time of writing this article, the crash took place just over six weeks ago.
