Wait—This Restaurant Chain Has 9 Michigan Locations?

I'll be honest, I was surprised to learn that this fast-food restaurant is alive and well here in Michigan because I thought it was a chain you would primarily find out west.

The surprising restaurant with multiple locations in Michigan that we're talking about is Del Taco. Founded in 1964 in Yermo, California, and originally called Casa Del Taco, it's now the second-largest quick-serve Mexican restaurant chain in the country.

I had never even heard of Del Taco until I watched an episode of The Big Bang Theory where they referenced the restaurant chain. I thought it was nothing more than a fictional chain. I later learned that it is, in fact, real, with roughly 600 locations in the U.S.

I literally found out today that there are nine Del Tacos in Michigan. This may seem surprising to some, especially considering the chain has been in Michigan since 2005. In my defense, there are no locations here in Mid-Michigan; all nine are located in Metro Detroit.
