Did You Know This Is Michigan’s Most Hated Food?
Michigan is known for Coney dogs, fudge, cherries, pasties, and so much more. But what food do Michigan residents hate the most?
This is not to say that some Michiganders may enjoy this particular food, but it definitely is an acquired taste. I am guessing most people have not even tried it because of the smell, and its reputation. Not to mention the texture, slimy is an accurate description.
With the above clues, have you guessed what food Michigan residents hate the most? Here is one more clue, some people enjoy it on pizza.
Without further ado, Michigan's most hated food is (drumroll please), anchovies.
All Recipes describes anchovies as small fish that are foraged by larger fish and birds. That sure sounds like bait to me. Why would you want to eat bait? Would you eat a worm too?
The taste of anchovies is described as fishy and salty. Yeah, the hits keep coming.
According to Zippia, Michigan is not the only state to despise anchovies. The following states do too,
- North Carolina
Did you notice Ohio is on the list? That makes at least one thing that Michigan and Ohio residents agree on.
So what other than pizza do people add anchovies to? Here are a few suggestions courtesy of Epic Curious,
- Salad dressings
- Pasta dishes
- Deviled eggs
- Vegetable Dips
- Chicken dishes
- Caesar salad
Are you inspired now to start cooking with anchovies? I am not. I stand with my fellow anchovy-hating Michiganders.
