BEWARE! This Is Most Dangerous Week For Drivers In Michigan
LOOK OUT!
Before you go driving tonight or any time soon in Michigan, you may want to understand what is going on.
It is the most dangerous week and time for Michigan drivers.
Why Is This Most Dangerous Week For Drivers In Michigan?
It is always dangerous to be on the road but there is a huge reason why it is the most dangerous week to drive in Michigan.
It is because of the DEER!
Most of the accidents that involve deer happen around dusk and dawn. That is the time that deer are actively looking for food the most.
If you see one, I promise there are more close by because they typically travel in groups.
How To Avoid Deer Car Accidents
The first tip I have to lower your chance of hitting a deer may sound simple.
PAY ATTENTION! Ensure you are always checking and aware of surrounding areas when you are close to wooded areas because they can come out in the blink of an eye.
You could drive in the center lane. It will give you more time to see and react to the deer jumping out in front of your car, instead of being in the lane closest to the woods.
High beams are your bestie! If you are able to have your high beams on when you are driving in the dark, you will be able to see the deer a lot sooner. Make sure you do not have your high beams on while you are behind another vehicle.
What Should You Do If You Hit A Deer?
Well, if you are a hunter, you will be happy. However, there are a few things that you can do when or if you hit a deer.
Call 911 ASAP! Let the dispatch know about the damage or any injuries.
DO NOT GO TOWARDS THE DEER! If the deer is actually injured, it may get scared if you are near it and it could injure you in the process.
Move your car to the side of the road so you are not becoming a hazard for other vehicles and first responders.
